Kahala Brands announced that Dr. Maya Warren will join the company as tastemaster and food scientist for portfolio brands Cold Stone Creamery and Pinkberry.
"Maya will be a great addition to the team," said Michael Serruya, chairman and chief executive officer of Kahala Brands. "As our lead food scientist, whom we affectionately call our 'Tastemaster', she will work with our Research & Development team to create new flavors and innovative products unique to each concept. Maya, who received a Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in Food Science, has vast knowledge of frozen aerated products, so we are really excited to have her on board."
In her role with Kahala Brands, Warren will promote new flavors, as well as customer favorites, according to a company press release.
"I love talking to people about ice cream and frozen yogurt — their eyes light up! And I love the science behind the microstructure and what makes it taste so good, especially Cold Stone Creamery ice cream and Pinkberry frozen yogurt," Warren said. "We will make a great team when it comes to promoting frozen treats and continuing the tradition of putting out amazing product lines and profiles that appeal to our guests worldwide."
Warren was recently in the news for her participation on the television show "The Amazing Race." She and her friend and show partner, Amy DeJong, traveled the world competing with other contestants. Warren and DeJong won the entire competition, beating out 10 other teams.
