Cold Stone Creamery plans Philippines, Bangladesh expansion

The Cold Stone Creamery brand continues expand its international footprint with upcoming locations planned in the Philippines and Bangladesh.

Parent company Kahala has signed 10-year master franchise agreements with Olive Tree Foods Ltd. in Bangladesh, and with Arizona Ice Cream Corporation in the Philippines

Olive Tree Foods Ltd. will open its first Cold Stone Creamery store in 2013 with the goal of opening a total of four stores within the next 4 years.

"We wanted to make it possible for our Bangladeshi customers to experience the golden standard of Cold Stone Creamery ice cream," said Sheikh Aftab Ahmed, managing director of Olive Tree Foods.

Arizona Ice Cream Corporation is a subsidiary of Trimark Holdings Inc., which has a portfolio that includes fashion, restaurant and health club brands throughout the Philippines. It is planning to open 15 stores throughout the next five years, with the first location to open in mid-2013.

This current expansion plan will increase Cold Stone's footprint to 22 countries. Its international growth began in 2005 with its first non-U.S. location in Tokyo.
