Cold Stone scoops up random acts of free ice cream

July 9, 2018

Cold Stone Creamery will start a week of free ice cream giveaways nationwide this week in the scorching heat of Tempe, Arizona, as part of its thirtieth birthday celebration. The give-aways, started three years ago, are what the brand refers to as Random Acts of Cold Stone, a news release said.

But in Tempe this year, the brand will also host its 30th Anniversary Challenge where three of its most loyal customers will vie for a prize of a year's worth of free ice cream, with local celebrity judges. After that, every other day this week the brand will appear in new undisclosed stores across the country and give away free ice cream.

And as for the connection to those perhaps better known "random acts of kindness," over the next week the store's traveling team will give away two gift cards to anyone they see doing a kind deed. When that happens, the team will give the first card to the person who was caught "being kind" while the second card will be given to them to pay it forward.

The brand has 1,500 locations in over 28 countries.
