A branch of the National Alliance on Mental Illness and the Faith, Hope and Love organization received some philanthropic "love" from Cousins Subs Make It Better Foundation in the form of $4,000 in grant money.
NAMI in Waukesha County. Wisconsin, is putting its $2,000 gift into its Ending the Silence program that helps teens spot early signs of mental illness, as well as signs they or a friend is thinking about suicide. The grants will be used to expand those program to Brookfield Central and Brookfield East High Schools this school year, with the goal to reach 480 students, according to a news release.
Faith, Hope & Love will use its gift on its Duffels for Kids program, providing kids in need with a blanket, stuffed animal, storybook, flashlight and hygiene items when transitioning between living situations.
"Receiving the funds from Cousins Subs Make It Better Foundation will allow us to provide 100 Duffels for Kids bags to children removed from their home due to abuse, neglect or a tragedy,” said Heather Lojeski, executive director of Faith, Hope & Love. "Without funding for Duffels for Kids, children are given a black trash bag for their personal belongings."
