The Cousins Subs Make It Better Foundation has awarded Literacy Green Bay a $1,000 grant to support its Read & Lead Tutoring Program, which connects trained teen volunteers with elementary-aged participants who provide close one-on-one positive relationships with disadvantaged children, assisting them with their school work while also supporting their literacy development outside of the classroom.
Foundation funds will be used to replenish program workbooks, art and crafts materials, and training materials that are routinely consumed by the children and tutors, as well as replace books, games and puzzles that are damaged or have missing pieces for the 2014-2015 school year.
The grant is funded through Cousins Subs’ Make It Better Foundation, a nonprofit charitable organization established in 2013. The Make It Better Foundation aims to improve the general welfare and quality of life in the communities Cousins Subs serves and addresses three areas of interest: health and wellness, hunger and youth education.
