Culver's hosts Red Cross 'Day of Giving' fundraiser

PRAIRIE DU SAC, Wis. — In conjunction with National Preparedness Month, Culver's restaurants in 16 states are donating 10 percent of sales Sept. 12 to participating American Red Cross chapters during a system-wide 'Day of Giving' fundraising event.
Additionally, guests will be able to give personal donations in canisters available at each location. Culver's estimates the one-day event will raise more than $150,000 for local chapters.
Culver's also has announced the winners of its 'What Flavor Are You Today?' contest.The two category winners will receive a $1,000 Frozen Custard Treat Spree for their entries, "The Royal Treatment" and "Crazy For Cookie Dough."
A total of 8,664 votes were cast during the contest's two-week voting phase, with "The Royal Treatment" receiving 68 percent of video votes and "Crazy For Cookie Dough" receiving 50 percent of recipe votes.
In "The Royal Treatment," contestants depicting British royalty created a new sundae featuring either chocolate or vanilla frozen custard topped with Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, Oreo cookies, almonds and peanut butter. Singing about their frozen custard culinary creation, the contestants embarked on a road trip where Culver's was the only place they could enjoy "The Royal Treatment." In addition to the Frozen Custard Treat Spree, the winners will have a chance to appear in a future Culver's TV commercial.
"Crazy For Cookie Dough," will be the featured Flavor of the Day at Culver's in 16 states Sept. 3, with the possibility of becoming a regularly featured flavor. The original flavor features vanilla and chocolate custard topped with hot fudge and caramel, then finished with cookie dough pieces.
