Wisconsin-based Culver's currently has a portfolio of 449 restaurants in 19 states. The chain, known for its ButterBurger and frozen custard, aims to hit 500 units by 2013, according to WQOW.com.
Culver's was founded in 1984. Its first year in business, the company made about $300,000. Now, each restaurant generates about $1.7 million in sales.
Craig Culver, CEO, said the company's Wisconsin roots are a big reason the business has been so successful. The chain gets most of its supplies from Wisconsin.
