Culver's to host create-your-own ButterBurger contest
May 27, 2010
Culver's is asking its fans to create their own version of its signature ButterBurger in the Ultimate ButterBurger Build-Off Contest. People can enter to win by submitting their favorite and unique recipe to complement the legendary ButterBurger, which starts with a 100 percent fresh, never-frozen burger patty grilled to perfection and served on a toasted, lightly buttered bun.
"Our guests always have a big say in what's on the menu — but this really is a whole new level," said Craig Culver, co-founder and CEO of Culver's, in a news release. "Never before has a guest been able to help shape our ButterBurger menu quite like this." The contest launches Monday and runs through June 30. Starting May 31, the websitewill collect guests' ButterBurger creations but also open the decision up to a public vote to help determine the finalists. Culver's ButterBurger experts Culver and executive chef Jim Doak will select the winner from the top 50 vote-getters. The winner will enjoy a once-in-a-lifetime Culver's experience. After flying in on a private jet, the winner will team up with Culver and Doak in the Culver's test kitchen to experiment, refine and then bring the winning masterpiece to life. The prize also includes a visit to the birthplace of the ButterBurger, the first Culver's restaurant in Sauk City, Wis., where the award-winning ButterBurger creation will be served to restaurant guests.
The new burger may also live on as a featured item on the Culver's specials menu. While in Wisconsin, the winner and three guests will stay in the Presidential Suite at world-class Kalahari Resort in the famous Wisconsin Dells. They'll also enjoy free passes to Wisconsin's largest indoor and outdoor waterparks as well as a credit for the Kalahari's luxury spa.
Donut leader Dunkin' Donuts has had success with a similar contest. The company will announce the winner of its second annual "Create Dunkin's Next Donut" contest on Monday. The contest drew nearly 90,000 donut creations submitted online.
