Dairy Queen has made its debut in Trinidad, marking the brand's 20th country outside of the U.S. and Canada. The location, in Port of Spain, was opened through a partnership with PELINJA Holdings Ltd.
"The international marketplace has always presented a huge opportunity to grow the Dairy Queen brand," said John Gainor, CEO of International Dairy Queen Inc. "Through our partnership with PELINJA Holdings Ltd., we are thrilled to now offer the residents and tourists in Trinidad the same exceptional treats and menu items that our fans already enjoy around the world."
In 2012, the Dairy Queen system opened 215 restaurants outside the U.S. and Canada, which included the milestone 100th location in Mexico.
PELINJA Holdings LTD is scheduled to open three new locations in the next couple of months and is planning many additional locations in Trinidad throughout the next few years. The Trinidad DQ features the full line of the brand's classic treats, as well as hot dogs and cakes.
Dairy Queen, part of Berkshire Hathaway, has more than 6,100 locations, 1,109 of which are outside the U.S. and Canada.
