The Dairy Queen system, part of Berkshire Hathaway, has relaunched in the United Arab Emirates with the opening of a DQ Grill & Chill restaurant. The UAE is the 26th country outside the U.S. and Canada with a DQ presence.
"Through our partnership with Bajco Gulf, LLC, we are bringing our renowned menu and quality service to the residents and visitors of the United Arab Emirates,” Chief Executive Officer John Gainor, International Dairy Queen Inc., said in a statement. "We see a tremendous growth opportunity in the GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council) in the Middle Eastern region as we continue to build our DQ global brand presence."
Bajco Gulf will open the first of 20 DQ Grill & Chill restaurant at the Al Naeem Mall, located in the Ras Al Khamah (RAK) region of the United Arab Emirates as part of a multi-unit development agreement.
The new restaurant features the full DQ Grill & Chill menu, including the Flamethrower GrillBurger, chicken strip baskets, sandwiches and salads. The menu will also include DQ signature treats and beverages, such as the BlizzardTreat, soft-serve cones with the curl on top, sundaes and DQ Cakes.
The new UAE restaurant opens during the DQ system’s 75th anniversary year.
