Dairy Queen is rolling out a Non-Dairy Dilly Bar, which Animal welfare organization, PETA, called a major win for consumers who choose to go without cow's milk. The new Dilly Bars are made with coconut cream and vegan chocolate.
Dairy Queen Corporate Communications Director Amie Hoffner told QSRweb that the Dilly Bars were being shipped to stores nationwide with the planned launch set for May 18.
"The Non-Dairy Dilly Bar is being offered in response to fan requests, as well as to align with consumer and industry trends," she said in an email to this website. "Many families have members who follow a variety of diets, including dairy-free, gluten-free and vegan, and we at DQ want everyone to have access to a treat that suits their needs."
Hoffner said Dairy Queen offers dairy-free products like its Starkiss Bar and Misty Slush beverages and would release more details about the vegan-friendly Dilly Bars in mid-May.
"After years of offering treats made with cruelly obtained cow's milk, Dairy Queen is finally embracing a delicious dairy-free dessert," PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman said in a release. "PETA thanks the company for adding this vegan option and looks forward to seeing it hit the spot with kind customers."
