Del Taco Restaurants, Inc. has brought back one of its former marketing executives to lead the QSR's strategy going forward as its new CMO. Restaurant industry veteran Tim Hackbardt has more than 27 years of experience with brands including BJ's Restaurant & Brewhouse, Rubio's, Pieology, Steak 'n Shake, Johnny Rockets and Lucille's Smokehouse Bar-B-Que, a news release said.

Hackbardt was also the marketing lead for Del Taco from 1999 to 2003, when the brand said it experienced "some of its most successful years, setting records across many financial and brand metrics, including over 20% comparable restaurant sales growth during his tenure." In fact, Hackbardt has also consulted with Del Taco on a range of projects from marketing technology to new prototype design over the past five years.

"Over the last three decades, he has successfully driven strategies and innovation to attain one of the best track records in the industry for consistent, long-term performance," Del Taco President and CEO John D. Cappasola, Jr. said in the release. "Tim also has a deep, hands-on appreciation of Del Taco's differentiated QSR+ positioning and of the importance of being nimble."

Hackbardt graduated from Central Michigan University with a bachelor's degree in broadcast and cinematic arts. Del Taco has more than 580 restaurants across 15 states.
