Del Taco launches first-party catering platform

Del Taco is making catering a bigger part of its growth strategy with the launch of a new first-party catering platform, the company announced in a news release. Beginning Sept. 3, customers can browse menus and place catering orders directly through Del Taco's website rather than being redirected to a third-party ordering platform.

"Our menu works extremely well for group orders, and our catering relaunch supports an improved sales channel for our restaurants and franchise partners, while creating a significant opportunity to be part of occasions where Del Taco has historically had a limited presence," Ulyses Camacho, chief transformational officer of Del Taco, said in the news release. "Catering was one of several key areas identified as part of Project Del Sunrise, and this relaunch is another example of turning strategy into action."

The expanded menu adds Taco Salads alongside tacos, Epic Burritos, Burrito Boxes and buffet-style taco kits. The new platform also gives Del Taco operators additional back-of-house tools to manage catering orders.

"Project Del Sunrise was initiated to find new avenues to grow the business and give guests more reasons to choose Del Taco," Camacho added. "Catering is another important piece of that strategy, allowing us to bring the Del Taco experience into more moments that bring people together."
