Del Taco opens 500th restaurant

LAKE FOREST, Calif. — Del Taco has opened its 500th restaurant, 45 years after the concept was born, the company has announced. The new company-owned, 24-hour restaurant is in Burbank, Calif.
To commemorate the opening, Del Taco will offer free meals to southern California firefighters at the Burbank restaurant from 7 a.m. to midnight Jan. 10. Del Taco also will present more than $110,000 to local Red Cross chapters to help victims of recent wildfires.
"This is an important milestone for Del Taco in terms of both credibility and satisfying customers," said Shirlene Lopez, 28-year company veteran and president/COO of Del Taco. "Every hour of every day, we focus on serving our customers great-tasting food at a good value. Our success is their satisfaction, and we take it personally."
Del Taco opened 10 company and 12 franchise restaurants in 2007. The company plans to open about 25 more restaurants in 2008.
