Del Taco opens first Illinois location

November 29, 2006

LAKE FOREST, Calif. — Del Taco opened its first Illinois store in Machesney Park Nov. 28.

California-based Del Taco is the nation's No. 2 Mexican quick-service chain behind Taco Bell and has been expanding across the nation. Del Taco has opened 23 new restaurants this year, and recently moved in to the upper Midwest with two locations in the Detroit area.

Del Taco's average unit volume is nearly $1.2 million.

"Del Taco's focus on customer service and quality food made the chain an ideal choice for us as we considered expanding our restaurant business," said Phil Digiovanni, franchisee of the first Illinois store. "Del Taco's fresh, made-to-order food is a quality alternative in the Mexican quick-serve category."
