Del Taco seeks multi-unit franchise owners

Del Taco's director of Franchise Development, Laura Tanaka, will speak at the 2014 Franchise Expo South Feb. 6-8 in Houston about the brand's franchising opportunities.

Del Taco, which has nearly 550 restaurants in 17 states, is looking to expand via multiunit franchise partners, according to a news release.

"Del Taco is coming off a record-setting year, and we're looking to expand our winning brand with new multi-unit franchise partners," Tanaka said. "Along with a banner sales year, we've reimaged our restaurants, and implemented an aggressive menu innovation program that's been well received by our guests."

In 2013, the company implemented a system-wide rebrand, which included a new restaurant prototype and menu rollouts such as the Buck & Under Menu, CrunchTada Pizzas and Epic Burritos.

Tanaka will be a panelist at the "How to Become a Multi-Unit Franchise Owner" seminar taking place at the Franchise Expo South Feb. 8, from 1-3:30 p.m.

The return of crispy shrimp

Also, back by popular demand beginning Thursday, Del Taco will offer its crispy shrimp in either a taco or burrito for a limited time. Both Del Taco's crispy shrimp taco and burrito feature crispy shrimp, cabbage, freshly chopped pico de gallo salsa and Del Taco's secret sauce. The burrito adds lime rice and the tacos are served with a lime wedge, according to a news release.

For a limited time, guests can purchase two crispy shrimp tacos for $4 and two beer battered fish tacos for $3.50.

"Our fans constantly tell us how much they enjoy our Crispy Golden Shrimp Tacos and Burritos, and we're happy to bring these items back to satisfy their cravings," said John Cappasola, the company's executive vice president and chief brand officer. "With fresh ingredients prepared in-restaurant, it's easy to see why these are two of our most popular menu items."
