Del Taco spices up breakfast with new Mexican chorizo sausage

Del Taco Restaurants has introduced Mexican chorizo sausage to its breakfast menu.

Del Taco Restaurants has introduced Mexican chorizo sausage to its breakfast menu, according to a company press release. The protein option is offered in three new breakfast items: the chorizo breakfast taco, the cChorizo half pounder burrito and the epic chorizo scrambler burrito. The new chorizo is made from ground pork seasoned with a slightly spicy blend of special herbs and spices.

"Del Taco has been serving breakfast for more than 30 years due to our commitment to great-tasting, freshly prepared menu items offered at the best value in the category," said John Cappasola, executive VP and chief brand officer. "We know guests are looking for convenient value in the morning, but also want quality ingredients to choose from. Whether they're craving a new option on the Buck & Under Menu at breakfast or a fully loaded epic burrito, our new chorizo meets these needs as the traditional flavor works well across all of our breakfast platforms."

Available from 11 p.m. to 11 a.m. (hours vary by location), Del Taco's grilled Mexican chorizo sausage is featured in three new breakfast items including:

• Chorizo breakfast taco — Grilled chorizo sausage and scrambled eggs, topped with freshly grated cheddar cheese and served in a warm flour tortilla.
• Chorizo half Pounder burrito — Grilled chorizo sausage and scrambled eggs, freshly grated cheddar cheese and red sauce served in a warm flour tortilla.
• Epic chorizo scrambler burrito — Grilled chorizo sausage and scrambled eggs, freshly grated cheddar cheese, hash browns, pico de gallo, and red sauce served in a warm, oversized flour tortilla.

In addition restaurants are serving a more flavorful Prima java coffee, which is medium bodied and has a smooth taste and sweet aroma, the release stated. Guests can also order Del Taco's new Prima java iced coffee.

For a limited time, Del Taco guests may receive a free five-piece crispy hashbrown sticks with the purchase of two Mexican chorizo sausage breakfast tacos.
