Del Taco's does fish six ways with start of Lent

The start of the annual Christian celebration of Lent tomorrow has Del Taco bringing back its oxymoron-ish jumbo shrimp LTOs. In fact, the brand is using the little curly seafood to prompt customers to download its app, offering those who do a coupon on Feb. 28 for a free crispy jumbo shrimp taco with any purchase this coming "Leap Day" weekend, a news release said. 

The brand is also offering two of the tacos for $5 as an LTO, for an unspecified period. The shrimp offerings also include a shrimp taco meal, shrimp burrito and burrito meal, as well as a beer-battered fish taco meal. 

"Our guests look forward to the return of our cravable crispy jumbo shrimp each year. …" Del Taco CMO Tim Hackbardt said in the release. "With the addition of crispy jumbo shrimp to the menu, Del Taco has a lot of choices during the Lenten season with six seafood options."

Del Taco now has more than 580 restaurants across 15 states.
