Doc Popcorn doubles national footprint

February 10, 2012

Boulder-Colo.-based Doc Popcorn doubled its national footprint in 2011, opening 22 new locations. Now the fresh-popped, all-natural popcorn franchise has more than 200 locations in development, with plans to open 100 of those by the end of 2012.

"We are growing our base of franchisees with talented, ambitious professionals from a variety of backgrounds who are seeking a career change into entrepreneurship and recognize Doc Popcorn as a strong investment," said Rob Israel, co-founder of Doc Popcorn. "With low capital requirements, simple operations and growth potential, we have created a concept that attracts entrepreneurially-minded individuals who are proud to introduce our healthy, great-tasting product to their communities."

Doc Popcorn launched its franchise program in 2009. Franchisees have the option of operating a variety of venues through the PopShop, PopKiosk and Mobile PopCart models.

In addition to expanding its network of shops in 2011, Doc Popcorn awarded 32 franchise agreements in 19 states, nearly doubling the company's base to 55 in 26 states. The brand expanded its presence into high-traffic venues including the King of Prussia Mall in Pennsylvania, the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York, and South Station in Boston.
