DoorDash launches immigrant restaurant owner support initiative

March 29, 2019

Delivery platform, DoorDash, has launched an initiative designed to support and promote immigrant and refugee food business owners called Kitchens Without Borders. The microsite-based program works by telling the stories behind restaurants operated by those who have come to the U.S. as immigrants and refugees to run such business, which a news release said are historically under-resourced.

On the web-based microsite, kitchenswithoutborders.com, the project has launched with minute-long videos around 10 San Francisco Bay Area food businesses. Participating restaurants also receive several promotional opportunities through DoorDash like DoorDash-funded marketing support, $0 delivery fees for customers for up to six weeks, and prime in-app placement on the DoorDash platform.

DoorDash is now operating in 3,300 cities across all 50 states in the U.S. along with Canada.
