DQ celebrates Queen Elizabeth's birthday with royal treat

The Dairy Queen system is offering to deliver a Royal Blizzard Treat to Queen Elizabeth II to commemorate her 90th birthday.

Dairy Queen hopes Queen Elizabeth II will celebrate her 90th birthday by sampling its line of Royal Blizzard treats, according to a company press release.

Royal Blizzard flavors include:

• Oreo Blizzard filled with a fudge center.
•  Royal New York Cheesecake, filled with a strawberry center.
• Royal Rocky Road Brownie with peanuts and brownie pieces, filled with a marshmallow center.

"This is innovation 30 years in the making. To our legions of worldwide Blizzard Treat Fans, we feel we owe them innovative ideas that are worthy of the Blizzard name," said Barry Westrum, executive VP of marketing, American Dairy Queen Corporation. "We are so confident in the Royal Blizzard line that we're crossing the pond to invite the Queen to try our newest Blizzard Treat. Who better than Queen Elizabeth II to be one of the first to try a royal treat on her milestone birthday? From one queen to another, we're doing our part to make her 90th birthday her sweetest yet."

Should she accept, the chain is ready to deliver the Blizzard Treat fit for royalty, Westrum said. In honor of the royal line, DQ's red spoon will become gold to celebrate the premium treat.
