International Dairy Queen, Inc. has signed a deal to expand into South Korea, according to a news release. The company will open 50 DQ Grill & Chill locations over the next five years through an agreement with the privately held M2G USA Investment Inc.
"The DQ brand continues to expand in new international markets," John Gainor, International Dairy Queen President and CEO, said in a news release.
The brand's South Korean locations will serve a complete menu of options, including burgers, sandwiches, chicken strip baskets and salads, along with all those soft-serve treats, like the Blizzard, frozen coffee-flavored drinks, cones, sundaes and cakes.
"Our goal is to be the most desirable QSR company in Korea that believes in the vision of people, product and process," John Park, M2G USA Investment staffer, said in a news release.
The company is already a partner in the ownership of Taco Bell restaurants in that country and the U.S. The DQ system has more than 6,700 locations with more than 2,200 of those units operating outside of the United States. International Dairy Queen is a subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway Inc.
