DT Research improves handheld POS line for QSR

May 25, 2010

DT Research Inc., an industry leader in the development of information appliances for vertical markets, has added two products to its handheld POS line, the WebDT 410 and WebDT 415. These new point-of-service handhelds are designed for quick customer service applications, such as mobile order-taking, ticket scanning, payment processing and inventory management.

The WebDT 410 and 415 offer the ultimate usability in a handheld POS solution with a 3.5-inch resistive touch, outdoor-viewable display. These are the first handheld devices to include a fully-integrated MSR, RFID reader and barcode scanner. The WebDT 400 handhelds offer the tools to improve customer service with the same staff and reduce costs by streamlining business processes.

The WebDT POS handhelds can be designated for specific applications and business processes and feature a unique, rugged design, with an IP54 rating for liquid and dust resistance. Additionally, the WebDT 400 series offers the only handheld POS devices that include remote management software. The WebDT Device Manager simplifies the management of multiple devices, especially useful for large deployments, such as in retail, restaurants, hotels, and entertainment.

By providing on-the-spot order taking, payment processing and ticket scanning, the devices offer businesses the ability to quickly assist every customer on the premises with a wide range of services and real-time information. Organizations can also increase sales through instantaneous up-selling and cross-selling.

Features of the two models of the WebDT POS Handheld include:
  • WebDT 410 - The WebDT 410 features a 3.5-inch LCD touch screen with an outdoor-viewable display and a virtual keyboard, as well as an integrated magnetic stripe card reader and an optional RFID reader. The large high-resolution screen significantly improves touch accuracy and usability.
  • WebDT 415 – The WebDT 415 features a 3.5-inch, high-resolution, outdoor-viewable LCD touch display, with integrated MSR and 2D barcode scanner, and optional RFID reader.
Both models feature hot-swappable batteries that support up to eight hours of use. Other features include programmable buttons, wireless networking and Bluetooth connectivity, as well as LED paging alert capability. Support for Microsoft Windows CE and Mobile 6 provide platforms that are compatible with many third-party applications.

Restaurants and quick-service chains can offer faster service through table-side or curb-side order taking using the WebDT POS Handheld. This provides reduced wait-time for customers by having orders transmitted directly from the table to the kitchen. Using the integrated MSR, restaurants can also easily process table-side or curb-side payments. Kitchen-to-floor communication is enhanced using the paging alert function, which signals staff when an order is ready.

The WebDT 410 and 415 are available now from authorized WebDT resellers.
