Dunkin' Donuts alum expands Checkers Drive-Ins

August 23, 2010

Five new Checkers Drive-In Restaurants are planned for Connecticut after an agreement was signed with Kerrim Jivani, a former Dunkin' Donuts and Baskin-Robbins franchisee. Jivani opened eight Dunkin' Brands units in the New York City area and sold them in 2009.

According to the Tampa Bay Business Journal, the first Checkers is set to open in the spring in Milford, Conn. The other four will open in the Hartford area.

Checkers is based out of Tampa, Fla. and owns and operates Checkers units and Rally's hamburger restaurants.

In June, the Checkers chain added several new members to its business development team in order to execute its aggressive nationwide expansion strategy.
