August 25, 2010

Americans seem to really be craving their donuts and coffee this year. So far this year, Dunkin' Donuts has opened 338 new locations worldwide, with 75 of those in the United States. Additionally, the company has also signed 72 new domestic franchise commitments.

The company opened in 1950 and now has more than 9,000 restaurants in 31 countries worldwide.

During the first half of 2010, multi-store agreements were signed in 14 markets, including Detroit, Miami, Chicago, St. Louis, South Bend, Ind., Fayetteville, N.C., and southern Florida.

Restaurants have opened in Raleigh, N.C., Phoenix, Atlanta, and other cities.

Dunkin' Donuts aligned its development strategy to support expansion opportunities based on consumer needs in each specific market. Franchise opportunities area available for single units and multi-store developments with no unit minimums. Design concepts are flexible and include free-standing stores, end caps, in-line sites, kiosks and gas stations.

"We are very pleased with the growth Dunkin' Donuts experienced in the first half of 2010. The strength of our brand and the quality of our products continue to enable us to be one of the fastest growing brands in the QSR industry," said Nigel Travis, chief executive officer, Dunkin' Brands. "As a result of our focus on steady, strategic growth, we have expanded our presence in existing markets while also successfully entering new territories."
