Dunkin' Donuts franchise group names new executive director

October 4, 2012

Edwin Shanahan, the new executive director of the DD Independent Franchise Owners (DDIFO), has officially taken over day-to-day operations of the franchisee organization as of Oct. 1. The news was released at DDIFO's National Members Meeting held on Sept. 28 at Mohegan Sun in Connecticut.

DDIFO is the largest independent association of Dunkin' Donuts franchise owners in the U.S.

"I have been talking with and listening to a broad slice of the DDIFO membership for the past few months and I'm delighted to now be in the position to provide them with the representation and leadership they have been asking for. The organization is well positioned and strong. My charge is to bring us to the next level, and that is precisely what I intend to do," Shanahan said.

During the National Members Meeting, Shanahan led a breakout session on government relations. Along with his panelists, Shanahan provided guidance on how franchisees can prepare for, respond to and participate in the legislative process.

According to DDIFO Chairman Daniel Connelly, the board and its new executive director are committed to representing the interests of franchise owners from around the country, particularly as Dunkin' Brands continues its expansion to other markets.
