Scrivanos Group, a North Reading, Mass.-based Dunkin' Donuts franchisee with more than 125 units throughout New England, has been sued by an employee for violation of the Massachusetts Tips Law.
Ron Meshna, an employee at a North Reading Dunkin' Donuts unit, filed a complaint this week in the Suffolk County Superior Court over the franchisee's no tipping policy, according to Boston.com.
Meshna's attorney claims the state's Tips Law prohibits employers from having such a policy in place and that employees are allowed to receive tips. The suit calls for back pay of tips employees did not receive because of the policy in an amount to be determined by a jury.
