Dunkin’ Donuts has been very busy following that credo to "go west" over the last year, as proven this week by the opening of the chain’s 12,000th restaurant worldwide in the Greater Los Angeles community of Riverside. This is part of the chain’s westward expansion which has already opened 30 new restaurants in California, with plans for 300 more in coming years.
Franchisee Parag Patel owns and operates the new location, as well as two other southern California locations in Villa Park and Yorba Linda. The Patel family first established a Dunkin’ Donuts location way back in 1989 in Maryland and now Parag Patel has plans for 20 new Riverside and Orange County locations in the coming years.
The chain is also committing $500 to the Orange County/Inland Empire Make a Wish Foundation and Redlands-Riverside Boys and Girls Club, as part of the opening. The Riverside location is also a DD Green Achievement site, designed with energy-efficient lighting, high-perfomance windows and low-flow faucets among other environmentally aware features.
