Dunkin' Donuts to close 100 stores

About 100 Dunkin’ Donuts stores franchised by convenience store chain Speedway LLC will close in 2015 and 2016.

Dunkin' Brands Group Inc. will close approximately 100 Dunkin’ Donuts stores franchised by convenience store chain Speedway LLC, according to Reuters. The restaurants are being closed in 2015 and 2016. Speedway will continue to remain a franchisee of Dunkin' Brands. The restaurants being closed accounted for 0.1 percent of its U.S. sales.

The store-closure announcement came amid news that Dunkin’ Donuts maintained the full-year profit and revenue forecasts it had issued in April, helping send its shares down as much as 12.7 percent, their biggest intraday percentage decline ever, the report stated. Dunkin' Donuts on Thursday said comparable sales at its Dunkin' Donuts outlets rose 1.1 percent in the quarter ended September, compared with a 2 percent rise a year earlier.
