Dunkin', known for its iconic branding as well as popular coffee and baked treats, is often found in small strip centers and standalone restaurants.
But for the past year the brand is all about the non-traditional location with its growth strategy moving forward, according to a press release.
Despite the challenges brought on by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the brand had a busy 2020 with openings throughout airports as well as retail hotspots including Mall of America, American Dream Mall and a Shop Rite supermarket in New York, as well as Air Force bases in New Mexico and Utah, and on campuses at the University of Maryland and University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth.
It continued the non-traditional strategy with 2021, launching in multiple hotel spots, a casino and hospital locations — including more than a few in Las Vegas. In that city there are now Dunkin' stores at the Convention Center, Linq Hotel and Arizona Charlie's Boulder Casino, as well as the brand's 12th location with Great Wolf Resorts at the Manteca, California park, according to a news release.
It's also expanding at New York's JFK Airport in Terminal 1 and Chicago's O'Hare Airport in Terminal 5. In the healthcare segment the brand is now at the Oak Hill Hospital in Brooksville, Florida and UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester, Massachusetts. said
"Dunkin' continues to modernize with convenience at the forefront. Our flexible concepts for any non-traditional format have been an essential aspect of our growth over the past decade and will remain a vital part of our future development strategy," Chris Burr, director of non-traditional development at Inspire Brands, said in the release. "As a new member of the Inspire family of brands, Dunkin's strong experience in non-traditional development complements Inspire's vision for non-traditional growth across the portfolio, bringing valuable expertise to our best-in-class shared development team."
