Dunkin', Krispy Kreme to host National Doughnut Day giveaways

Dunkin' Donuts and Krispy Kreme have each lined up giveaway promotions to celebrate the upcoming National Doughnut Day, June 4.
Participating Dunkin' Donuts restaurants nationwide will offer every guest a free donut of their choice, with the purchase of any beverage, limit one per customer. Also on National Donut Day, Dunkin' Donuts will announce the winner of its second annual "Create Dunkin's Next Donut" contest.
The contest drew nearly 90,000 donut creations submitted online, and a dozen finalists traveled to Dunkin' Donuts University in Braintree, Mass., earlier this month to compete in a bake-off competition before Dunkin' Donuts' culinary team and company leaders. One of the 12 finalists will win a $12,000 grand prize and have their winning donut sold in participating Dunkin' Donuts restaurants throughout the country.
Krispy Kreme giveaway
Krispy Kreme is offering customers one free doughnut of any variety at participating U.S. store locations on June 4. No purchase is necessary to receive a free doughnut.
Krispy Kreme is promoting the giveaway by asking its fans on Twitter to tweet their desired doughnut variety with the hashtag #KrispyKreme. Fans also are encouraged to take a picture of themselves at Krispy Kreme with their favorite doughnut and post it to Krispy Kreme's Facebook page.
National Donut Day, held the first Friday of June each year, was founded by the Chicago Salvation Army in 1938 to honor the women who served donuts to soldiers in World War I.
