Dunkin' to open 51 units in Virginia

Dunkin’ Donuts has signed a franchising agreement with seven franchise groups.

July 9, 2015

Dunkin’ Donuts consumers in Virginia and West Virginia will have an easier time finding a Dunkin’ Donuts store, as the company has signed a franchising agreement with seven different franchise groups, according to a statement issued by Grant Branson, Dunkin’ Donut’s vice president of global franchising and business development.

The agreement allows the companies to create a total of 51 new restaurants throughout the Virginia and West Virginia area. Most of the firms, such as The Heritage Group, already existed and simply added to their number of stores.

Husband and wife team, Atul and Aruna Patel, are new to franchising with Dunkin’ Donuts and expect to open three locations in Virginia by the end of 2017.

Grant Branson shared Dunkin’ Donuts’ approval: "We are thrilled these existing and new franchisees haven chosen to expand in the Virginia and West Virginia markets, and know these new restaurants will satisfy a growing consumer demand in the local communities they serve."

The signing, according to the statement, also allows these stores to update the look of the traditional restaurant. Each restaurant is allowed to have variations on color scheme, furniture, layout and other cosmetic details.
