El Pollo Loco adds carne asada steak tostada salad

El Pollo Loco is expanding its steak line-up with a new limited-time Grilled Carne Asada Steak Tostada Salad. The newest entrée joins two varieties of Flame-Grilled Sirloin Steak Tacos, a Sirloin Steak Bowl and the Sirloin Steak and 3-Cheese Quesadilla, both introduced in January.
"Chicken still rules our roost, but due to popular demand, we're adding a fresh salad option to our grilled steak offering," said Karen Eadon, chief marketing officer of El Pollo Loco Inc. "The Grilled Carne Asada Steak Tostada Salad is a twist on our popular Chicken Tostada Salad with Sirloin steak that has been deeply marinated in a signature blend of citrus, garlic, herbs and spices and
then grilled over open flames by our expert cooks."
Set to launch March 11, El Pollo Loco's new Grilled Carne Asada Steak Tostada Salad combines crisp lettuce, pinto beans, Spanish rice, and Jack and Cheddar cheeses with chopped citrus-marinated, flame-grilled Sirloin steak. Topped with sour cream and fresh pico de gallo, and served with El Pollo Loco's signature creamy cilantro dressing, the salad comes in a crisp tostada shell bowl.
There's something new for chicken lovers too: El Pollo Loco also is debuting a $5 Loco cash card on March 11. Guests who visit El Pollo Loco through May 9, 2010, and purchase a family meal or chicken of eight pieces or more, will receive a $5 Loco Cash Card that can be redeemed on their next visit with any 10-, 12- or 14-piece family meal purchase.
"Juggling expenses in this tough economy is a challenge and we're continually looking for ways to make life easier for today's families," Eadon said. "Our $5 Loco Cash Card provides an extra incentive for people to enjoy fresh, healthful food the whole family loves."
El Pollo Loco's family meals feature the chain's award-winning citrus-marinated chicken grilled over open flames. Family meals come in several sizes and are served with a wide selection of large sides, fresh salsas and warm corn or flour tortillas.
El Pollo Loco's new Grilled Carne Asada Steak Tostada Salad and $5 Loco Cash Card will be communicated through a multimedia campaign that includes television commercials in select markets beginning March 15.
Additionally, a wide mix of point-of-purchase vehicles will be used to introduce the new offers. El Pollo Loco also will look to round up steak lovers on Twitter with an online contest March 15-19, during which time people willing to swap out their profile photos with an image of their favorite flamed-grilled El Pollo Loco steak offering will be invited to enter a drawing offering a daily prize of "Free Steak for A Year."
