First Krispy Kreme in Shanghai opens

Long-time Krispy Kreme Doughnut Corp. franchise partner KKD Lotte Holdings Co. Ltd. has opened the first Krispy Kreme doughnut shop in Shanghai, China. Shanghai is the largest city in China, and the new shop is located at the In-Point Shopping Mall on the Wu-Jiang pedestrian walkway. KKD Lotte also is Krispy Kreme's franchisee in the Republic of Korea and Japan.
The new location is the first of 35 Krispy Kreme shops the franchisee plans to open over the next five years. The shop will offer 16 varieties of Krispy Kreme doughnuts that will be made fresh daily, including the signature Original Glazed doughnut.
"Our one-of-a-kind Krispy Kreme products are now available in the exciting city of Shanghai, China, and we are extremely pleased that our long-time franchise partner Lotte will be introducing them to consumers in that part of Asia," said Krispy Kreme president, International, Jeff Welch. "Lotte's QSR experience, and success with our brand in Korea and Japan, makes them uniquely qualified to share the Krispy Kreme experience with consumers in Shanghai."
The Krispy Kreme Original Glazed doughnut can be found in 19 countries, including the United States, Australia, Bahrain, Canada, China, Indonesia, Japan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Malaysia, Mexico, the Philippines, Puerto Rico, Qatar, the Republic of Korea, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates and the United Kingdom.
