Fla. Taco Bell promo draws bigger crowds than expected
January 21, 2009
Highlands Today: A handful of Central Fla., Taco Bell franchisees found that selling 20-cent tacos for a Customer Appreciation Day drew more crowds than they anticipated. The crowds were so large that parking was hard to find. One store had to send for more than 9,900 pounds of additional product at 4 p.m., others were so busy that their their systems couldn't track how many tacos were sold. A store in Lake Jackson reported it sold an estimated 16,000 tacos, even though the limit was 10 per person.
The stores lost money on the promotion but the franchisees still consider it a success.
