Former Dunkin', Starbucks, Yum exec named Papa Murphy's CEO

Weldon Spangler, a former leader with Dunkin' Brands, Starbucks and Yum, has been named CEO of Papa Murphy's, effective July 17, the company announced. Jean Birch, interim CEO, remains chair of the board of directors. 

Most recently, Spangler was Baskin-Robbins U.S., Canada and Puerto Rico senior vice president. Before that, he spent five years as Dunkin' Donuts U.S. and Canada regional vice president, then vice president of operations. 

Prior to his seven years with Dunkin Brands, Spangler held leadership roles at Starbucks Corporation and Yum Brands.

"Weldon is a seasoned leader with over 30 years of restaurant industry experience," Birch said in the release. "His expertise in managing and developing franchise businesses makes him a great fit for our company's next chapter."

Papa Murphy's also promoted CFO Mark Hutchens to executive vice president and CFO.
