Checkers Drive-In Restaurants Inc., the parent company of Checkers & Rally's drive-thru restaurants, said former Jack in the Box Chairman and CEO Lenny Comma is joining the Tampa, Florida-based company's board. Checkers Drive-in Restaurants said in a news release that this was Comma's first board appointment since he retired from Jack in the Box in June, according to a news release.
"This is an exciting time to be a part of Checkers & Rally's as we grow sales, open new restaurants and add highly qualified franchisees to our system, and we are delighted to have Lenny join our team," Frances Allen, president and CEO of Checkers & Rally's, said in the release.
Allen worked with Commas when she was president at Jack in the Box from 2014 to 2018. She said that Comma's leadership, operational insights and marketing abilities made him a good addition to the company's governing body.
Comma led Jack in the Box for six years, beginning in 2014 and is credited with transforming the organizational structure, talent base, processes, reward systems and culture to align with the brand's strategy.
"Joining the Checkers & Rally's team as a director was a natural choice for me," Comma said in the release. "The company is ideally positioned for future success given its strategic drive-thru-only business model, commitment to innovation, and opportunities for new unit growth. In today's changing restaurant landscape, as consumers crave comfort food ordered from drive-thrus, delivery and order ahead, Checkers & Rally has inherent advantages, and I am also impressed with the company's rapid innovation to support contactless transactions."
Checkers and Rally's have nearly 900 restaurants systemwide.
