July 9, 2019

A veteran McDonald's executive will take the reins of guiding Papa John's North American corporate and franchise restaurants when Jim Norberg steps into the role of chief restaurant operations officer, a news release said.

Norberg was executive vice president and COO at McDonald's, where he managed operations for 14,000 U.S. restaurants. Over his 30-year career with that brand, the release said Norberg unify company and franchise operations around Mcdonald's branding, while also overseeing a system-wide review to simplify operations and menus. Following that role, Norberg worked as an independent strategic adviser to restaurant, hospitality, entertainment and consumer goods businesses.

"Jim has an impressive growth track record, as well as deep-rooted QSR industry knowledge and expertise, making him a welcome addition to our talented leadership team," Papa John's International President and CEO Steve Ritchie, said in the release. "Jim is a seasoned expert whose depth and understanding of restaurant operations and the guest experience will help propel our brand forward and position us for continued success."

In his role at Papa John's, Norberg will lead the company's operations excellence team to drive efficiency and work for year-over-year increases in sales, customer satisfaction and profit margins.
