Former Papa John's president joins Miami Subs Pizza & Grill

June 10, 2009

FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla. — Dan Holland, a former president of pizza chain Papa John's, has joined Miami Subs Pizza & Grill as director of global franchising, the company has announced.

Holland joined Papa John's when the chain had only 23 units and was involved in taking the company public.

Following Papa John's, Holland has been involved with a variety of other concepts in the restaurant industry in both ownership and consulting roles.

"The hiring of Dan Holland speaks volumes about the commitment we are making to grow this company," said Fraser Austin, vice-president of Miami Subs Corp. "Dan is unquestionably one of the best in the restaurant franchise business and the ideal person to help us achieve our aggressive growth plans."

Miami Subs Corp., which acquired the chain in 2007, has introduced a line of specialty signature pizzas, a full breakfast menu, home delivery through a proprietary one-number order processing center, an online ordering system and a new store concept design.

The company recently signed a 100-unit master franchise agreement in New York and has opened three new stores in South Florida and South Carolina in the past 90 days. The first store in Turkey has also opened as part of a 40-unit deal and the first location in Romania is under construction as part of a 20-store agreement for that country.
