Friendly's CEO resigns

WILBRAHAM, Mass. — Friendly Ice Cream Corporation announced John L. Cutter, president and chief executive officer, has resigned to pursue other interests.

 

The company said Donald N. Smith, who has served as chairman since 2003, is assuming oversight responsibilities in the interim.

 

Cutter has been CEO and president of Friendly's since Feb. 2003. He served as the president and COO from Dec. 1998 to Feb. 2003. Prior to joining the company, Cutter served as the COO of Boston Chicken, Inc.

 

"The board and I appreciate John's many contributions to the company and wish him well," Smith said.
