Getfried gets busy worldwide

December 12, 2017

Gourmet French fry and finger food concept, #getfried Fry Cafe, is growing domestically with development of four new locations in Texas cities and one in California, and internationally, with one planned location in Egypt.

  • In Texas — Houston will see the opening of a Deerbrook Mall kiosk at the end of this month; the University of Texas at Austin will see a location open in the Dobie Mall food hall in January, followed by a second unit on campus to open in mid-2018. San Antonio will get a kiosk location at the North Star Mall in mid-January;  sometime early in the year, Dallas will get a Main Street location in The Corner Building.
  • In California — A new location in Santa Clara will debut in early January on Great America Parkway.
  • In Egypt — Premiere Food Services will open a location in Cairo, this winter, followed by 10 additional units in Egypt within the next three years.

Getfried offers six varieties of gourmet fries, which diners can personalize with more than 20 sauces, seasonings and protein options. The chain's most recent menu addition, Dutch-style "frites," are served in paper cones with dipping sauce. Other menu options include waffle fry sliders and chicken fingers.

"We are carving out a unique niche in the quick-serve segment. … ," getfried founder Chris Covelli said in the release. "We know that getfried intersects the ubiquity of the hashtag with America's love affair with French fries."

Since becoming franchise-compliant in early 2016, getfried has sold 23 units, nine of which will be open by the end of 2017. The quick-serve chain is focused on domestic expansion, specifically targeting college towns and campuses, as well as major cities such as Las Vegas, Atlanta, Miami and New York.
