Global comps continue to drive McDonald's

OAK BROOK, Ill. — Global comparable-store sales at McDonald's Corp. were up 7.1 percent for the third quarter ended Sept. 30, with Asia/Pacific, Middle East and Africa up 7.8 percent and Europe up 8.2 percent. U.S. comps were up 4.7 percent, the highest increase year to date, the company announced.
 
Revenues for the third quarter were $6.3 billion, up 6 percent from $5.9 billion in the same period last year. Year-to-date revenues were about $18 billion, up 5 percent from $17 billion last year.
 
Net income for the quarter was up 11 percent to $1.2 billion compared to $1.1 billion last year. Net income year to date was nearly triple that of last year, with $3.3 billion, compared to $1.1 billion last year.
