Grocery workers sack up a White Castle discount

White Castle is offering a 20% discount to employees of grocery stores and retail food outlets as a way to thank them for making sure people have food on their tables. 

"We want to show our appreciation to our colleagues in the food industry who have been there for all of us to ensure we all have food on our tables," Jamie Richardson, vice president at White Castle, said in the release. "We're so grateful to these essential workers."  

Throughout April, White Castle gave away more than $1 million worth of free meals to thousands of health-care workers in the 14 markets where the brand operates its retail outlets. In addition, White Castle delivered more than 12,700 complimentary Sliders to hospital workers in nine states. Next week, the brand plans to deliver more than 10,000 more Sliders to frontline grocery store and retail food workers in its markets.

The Columbus-based White Castle System Inc. has more than 365 locations and its products are carried in grocery stores across the nation.
