Guestworkers at McDonald's franchise file labor abuse complaints

March 7, 2013

International student guestworkers at a McDonald's franchise in Pennsylvania have filed complaints with the Department of State (DOS) and Department of Labor (DOL) a day after alleging labor abuses. The three McDonald's units are under the ownership of franchisee Andy Cheung. The labor supplier, GeoVisions, has also been named in the complaint.

The complaints were made specifically to the DOL Wage & Hour Division and DOS office responsible for the J-1 student guestworker program. They detail sub-minimum wage pay, wage theft, overpriced substandard housing, and retaliation against students to suppress lawful complaints.
