Halo Burger, a Flint, Michigan-based QSR, will reopen six of its eight stores on Friday for drive-thru, delivery and online ordering, a news release said. All of the brand's eight locations have been shuttered since March due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Halo Burger has left the option of whether to return to work at this point up to individual employees, which will be supported through the Halo Burger Family Fund to help with employee necessities such as utility bills, rent, groceries, diapers and more. One employee's words of thanks at receiving the assistance provide an idea of both the need many restaurant worker are currently facing and their appreciation of employer support.

"I wanted to take time to write because I think it's important the world understands what the Halo Burger team does for their crew in a time like this," said the employee, whose name was not disclosed in the release. "I received a $100 gift card to help my family, it was exactly what I needed to get us by. Not to mention this isn't the first time I've received aid, around Christmas I experienced hard times and the company was there supporting my daughter and I to make sure she had a great Christmas. I appreciate the help so much, I love my job and the people I work with. From my daughter, myself and my family, thank you from the bottom of our hearts."

The brand said its Linden Road and Pierson Road stores in Flint will open Friday, along with stores in Burton, Birch Run, Grand Blanc and Fenton, Michigan.

Halo Burger is the nation's second-oldest burger chain, founded in Flint in 1923 and currently owned by Halo Country LLC.
