Hardee's comps up for 24th consecutive period

CARPINTERIA, Calif. — Blended same-store sales for CKE Restaurants Inc., parent company of the Hardee's and Carl's Jr. brands, increased 0.1 percent for the four-week period ended Oct. 8, 2007, compared with an increase of 7.4 percent for the similar four-week period in 2006, the company announced.
 
Year-to-date, blended same-store sales are up 1.5 percent, compared with a 5.3 percent increase this time last year.
 
Comps at Carl's Jr. decreased 1.1 percent for the four-week period, compared with a 7.2 percent increase for the similar four-week period last year. Hardee's comps increased 1.3 percent, compared with a 7.6 percent increase last year.
 
Year-to-date comps at Carl's Jr. were up 0.7 percent compared with an increase of 5.7 percent this time last year, while year-to-date comps at Hardee's were up 2.3 percent, compared with a 4.9 percent increase for the same period last year.
 
Comps have increased at Carl's Jr. for five consecutive periods, while Hardee's comps have increased for 24 consecutive periods.
 
Revenue for the period from company-operated Carl's Jr. restaurants was approximately $44.5 million, while revenue from company-operated Hardee's restaurants was approximately $46 million
 
At the end of its fiscal 2008 second quarter, CKE Restaurants Inc. operated a total of 3,036 franchised, licensed or company-operated restaurants in 42 states and in 13 countries, including 1,111 Carl's Jr. restaurants and 1,909 Hardee's restaurants.
