Hardee's franchisee kicks off Midwest tour of giving

August 4, 2009

Hardee's restaurants is again kicking off a multi-store tour to draw attention to local charities in five Midwest and Southern states. The Hardee's 'Making it Happen' Tour will visit 66 Hardee's restaurants in Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Missouri and Tennessee, and will donate money to hometown charity groups, organizations and individuals Aug. 10-17.

The tour, sponsored by Hardee's franchise group MJKL Enterprises Midwest LLC, focuses on giving a total of $25,000 to individuals and small groups where the donation has the most direct impact on lives.

Last summer, MJKL Enterprises recognized both local charities and outstanding individuals helping out their communities. This year, the franchisee will continue to spread the goodwill alongside Hardee's franchise groups Sandy's Associates and Trico Development.

Some of this year's recipients include:
  • Thrive program in Cape Girardeau, Mo., a youth development program supporting family life
  • Sydney Williams, a 6-year-old from Chatham, Ill., who needs hyperbaric treatment for mitochondrial disease
  • Marine Women's Association in Jeffersontown, Ky., for its care package program for active servicewomen

The tour begins Aug. 10 in Louisville, Ky., and concludes Aug. 17 in Effingham, Ill. In celebration of the spirit of the tour, Hardee's guests at each stop will receive giveaways and free food samples. Along the way, the eye-catching, custom wrapped tour vehicle will make donations to hometown charities in each location for a total of approximately $25,000.

"Our Midwest 'Making it Happen Tour' is back in town and is on an important mission to make these tough economic times a little easier for those in our communities who are in real need," said Margaret LeVecke, CMO of MJKL Enterprises Midwest. "We are here to assist and to encourage others to support our returning veterans and their families, to aid ailing children and to help fund struggling charities."
