(October 18, 2005)--xpient LLC Solutions has announced that Boddie-Noell Enterprises, Inc., Hardee's largest franchisee with over 300 stores, is in the process of completing the chain-wide rollout of xpient's IRIS point-of-sale and LaborPro.NET, their web-based labor scheduling system. "After a successful smaller-scale early implementation, we made the decision to roll out IRIS to all of our stores because we discovered that its user friendly interface reduced our training costs by 60%," said Clint Cooke, Senior Director of Restaurant Services for Boddie-Noell. Nelson Gainey, Vice President of Information Services for Boddie-Noell, added: "Another factor that cannot be overstated is the fact that Christopher Sebes, the CEO of xpient, used to operate restaurants himself so he understands quick service restaurants better than anyone else I know in the software business."

When Boddie-Noell originally made the decision to implement a new point-of-sale system, the company asked 20 software vendors to present their systems. The company's executives spent a year participating in product reviews and studying the various alternative solution packages. "One of the major factors in our original decision to implement IRIS is the flexibility that xpient showed during the decision process," Gainey said. "We are unique in the restaurant business in that we close out our operations at 3 pm. Most of the major players were unable to accommodate our needs in this area. But xpient, even though they are a major player, demonstrated the responsiveness of a smaller vendor to accommodate our needs. The process is so smooth that our cashiers don't even know that we are closing."
Boddie-Noell originally rolled out IRIS to 125 stores, then stopped the implementation in order to conserve capital. Then, at the beginning of this year, the company restarted the implementation with the latest version of IRIS. It has already upgraded the original 125 stores to the latest version, implemented 50 new stores, and is rolling out the POS software to the rest of their stores at a rate of four per week. Boddie-Noell has also made the decision to implement xpient's Exception Based Management Systems (XBMS), including both Visual Dashboard and Real-Time Alerts.
The IRIS POS system allows users to create and maintain menus, handles complex discount scenarios, traces cash from point of order to point of deposit, tracks time and attendance, and provides automatic end of day processing. Visual Dashboard provides an interactive source of management information on the store from the back office or a terminal. Real-Time Alerts provides immediate notification via cell phone, pager or email of a wide range of business conditions, drawing advance attention to potential problems and opportunities.
