Hardee's Restaurants LLC has partnered with Viamedia to award a qualifying Kentucky student a $10,000 college tuition fund. The 2014 Hardee's $10,000 College Fund Contest is open to Central Kentucky students enrolled in a Kentucky college or University by December 31, 2014, who have a 2.5 GPA or higher and are at least 17 years old.
"With the rising cost of higher education, we are proud to collaborate with Viamedia to raise the prize to $10,000 this year," said Mindi McGinnis Bertram, marketing liaison for Hardee's, in a company press release. "No student should feel they cannot attend college because of the steep cost – we hope that, together with Viamedia, we can help ease this burden and make a student's dream a reality."
Last year, Viamedia and Hardee's awarded Megan Yocum $5,000 to go toward her Berea College tuition.
"Like many college students having the funds to attend school can be a challenge. This program couldn't have come at a better time. It enabled me to focus on my studies, not my wallet," Yocum said.
Eligible contest entrants will compete for the grand prize by writing short essays, which will be evaluated by the Sponsor's Marketing and Promotions Team and Hardee's Restaurants LLC. The Contest begins on September 1, 2014 at 12:00 a.m. ET and ends on October 31, 2014 at 11:59 p.m. ET.
The winner of the Contest will be determined on or about November 17, 2014 based on the following criteria: the essay that best describes exemplary community service and commitment to academic excellence by the entrant; overall creativity and originality of the essay; and, the quality of the content, writing style, grammar and word count accuracy.
