Hardee's and Viamedia, an independent cable TV ad management company, named Dustin Stamper from Breathitt County, Kentucky, the winner of the third annual Viamedia & Hardee's $10,000 College Fund Contest. Currently a senior nursing student at Morehead State University, Stamper was selected based on his commitment to community service and passion for helping the elderly, according to a press release from Viamedia.

"At Viamedia, we believe in fostering the next generation. The combination of academic achievement and community leadership exhibited by Dustin underscores the core values of this scholarship," said Mark Lieberman, president and chief executive officer of Viamedia. "We heartily congratulate Dustin on his well-deserved award."

"We are delighted to award this scholarship to Dustin, supporting his education and drive to better his community. We have always valued education and community involvement — especially in Lexington and surrounding counties," said Mindi McGinnis, a representative from Hardee's franchise group, Heritage Assets & the Lexington Coop. "Dustin has clearly demonstrated his commitment to improving the world around him and we look forward to watching him grow."

Speaking to the importance of these funds, Stamper said, "This scholarship allows me to continue my lifelong journey of learning and service, so I cannot put into words how much this college fund means to me."

In addition to serving as a nursing student during the week, Stamper spends his weekends volunteering at a local nursing home, the release stated. He hopes to work there full-time after graduation.

During the selection process, the scholarship was open to all Kentucky students enrolled in a Kentucky college, university or eligible educational institute by Nov. 1, 2015, who had a 2.5 GPA or higher and were at least 17 years old.
